Eternal Dignity - Day Six

With Metalbattle and Aardschok's Metal Bash, this young Dutch progressive metal outfit have recently won two major national talent contests. Juries and audience mostly praised them because of their tight and high-energy live performances.
The band, who were formerly known as Peanuts, released their real debut album - when not including the Peanuts platter "Be Careful What You Wish For…" - in 2003.
Despite the dull production of this disc, a glimmer of talent shines through. Combining symphonic rock, progressive metal and touches of jazz and funk, the band manage to create a unique sound with its root in the seventies and eighties progressive rock. There you have the reason why they're being compared with bands as Rush, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple, albeit they still have a long, long way to go if they ever want to be as successful.
The technical and songwriting abilities are already present, but ain't the polishing of the rough diamond the hardest work?
A special mention must go out to the girl choir Swingles, who have added an authentic feel to "The Law Of The Web" and "Water & Stones", coincidentally (?) two of the best cuts on this disc.
Recent news of the band included their signing with the American Progman Records. Day Six are currently still shopping for a record deal in Europe. I don't doubt that they will be given a fair chance somewhere sometime!
